Taylor Swift debuts ‘Back to December (Taylor’s Version)’ during ‘Summer I Turned Pretty’ trailer

It may be summer but Swifties are headed to “Back to December”! On June 29, amid the release of the season 2 trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty, Taylor Swift released her song “Back to December (Taylor’s Version)”. The 33-year-old released the re-recorded song on Twitter along with the trailer of the show. “Crying (Taylor’s version),” she jokingly captioned the clip. The original song was released in 2010 and appears on her album Speak Now, which will be re-released on 7 July.

Soon after the song was released in the trailer, many Swifties took to the reply section of their tweets to respond to receiving the single a week before the album’s release. “No, I’m crying, hello?”, one fan jokingly replied to the songstress, while another said, “Really crying!” Several fans of the Gori Sundari also took to the comments section of the show’s trailer’s tweet to appreciate the hit song. “I’m already crying and I’ve seen this so many times,” one fan quipped, while another wrote with a crying emoji, “Not back in December.”

As Swifties know, the track was originally written with Taylor’s ex Taylor Lautner, 31, in mind. The Twilight star confirmed this to be true during a 2016 interview with Lea Michele and John Stamos (see here). Swift and Lautner briefly dated in 2009 after meeting on the set of the film Valentine’s Day that same year. In the song, she laments “I miss your dewy skin, your sweet smile / So good, so perfect for me”, which is about a 31-year-old man.

Taylor Swift will release ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’

Swift announced the album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on May 5 during her Nashville Eraz Tour show. When the “Anti-Hero” hitmaker took the stage, she told her Swifties that she’s been “planning something for a while.” He made the announcement debut with the album’s cover art on the jumbotron behind him (see here). “I plot, I plan, I plan… I guess instead of talking about it I thought I’d just show you, so you can focus your attention on the big screen in the back,” Taylor said loudly. As mentioned above, fans can expect the album next week!
