Sher confessed that at first, she felt different from the real Gaga during makeup and hair tests, as she was completely immersed in portraying the mysterious Harley Quinn.

To maintain the essence of her character throughout the filming process, an assistant director suggested that Sher address Gaga on set as Lee, a shortened version of her character’s name, Harley. Remarkably, this subtle change had a profound effect on their connection. Gaga’s transformation into Lee brought her character to life and Sher found the right rhythm working with her.

Sher also recalled a similar experience with Joaquin Phoenix during the shooting of the first Joker film. Phoenix, like Gaga, remained fully committed to her character, delivering an authentic and mesmerizing performance.
