Keanu Reeves Was Paid An Astronomically Incredible Fee To Speak Only 380 Words In John Wick 4

The film was such a success that it not only catapulted Keanu Reeves back into the top league, but also spawned three more brilliant and successful sequels.

After 9 years, the fourth and final installment of the franchise John Wick: Chapter 4 released and took off at the worldwide box office including India.

In just four days after its release, John Wick: Chapter 4 has grossed $146 million at the global box office. And it is expected to easily surpass the previous film in the franchise which grossed $328 million globally.

Amidst the critical and commercial success of John Wick: Chapter 4, a new report from The Wall Street Journal has revealed that in the film, the lead character of Keanu spoke only 380 words in the entire 169-minute running time of the film.

In comparison, in the first film which was 101 minutes long, Keanu spoke 484 words.

In the latest film, 27.1 percent of his lines are single words like “yeah”, “thanks”, “oh”, “right” and “what”.

The report also claims that the longest uninterrupted speech Keanu delivers in the film is the one sentence, “You and I left the good life behind a long time ago, my friend.”

It is reported that the actor was paid a whopping $15 million for the film. Which is around Rs 123.5 crore. This means that Keanu was paid $39,473 (roughly Rs. 32 lakhs) per word.

Responding to the report, a user wrote, “True, but that man can pack a lot of meaning into a pause.”

Another user reacted, “What did he make per punch? That is the real question.”
